So the deal is done - all good Americans, at least ones actually paying tax, ie those at the bottom of the financial heap, are to pony up $700bn to pay for Wall Street's finest screw-ups. It is ironic to think that there will be those unable to pay their house mortgages, re-mortgages and credit card bills due to the increased tax burden placed on them by having to pay off debts - accrued by the very people who are now foreclosing on their home! While we are setting up in booming Tent City those Wall Street fat cats will be sleeping like babies - soothed by cool Caribbean breeze, or the gentle yaw of their luxury yacht.

Any home equity people once had is being eaten up by fees and charges, as well as the most crushing of economic forces - rampant inflation. As people live more and more on their credit card, their initial interest-free honeymoon period long since history, banks are tightening the purse strings and squeezing every last dollar they can. Many people are shocked at what they see as Double Taxation - hit from the government with taxes on the one hand, from corporations in elevated or downright extortionate premiums and surcharges on the other.

And now, the "bailout" comes along. Rejoice! Americans can sleep safely in the full knowledge that their sacred financial system is in good hands. Does anyone else see an issue here? Why should tax payers, some who have never owned a house, taken a loan or used a credit card, why should they help pay debt they never had anything to do with. Why should they have to bear an unnecessary tax burden to pay for the government's economic meddling and fat cat's golden parachutes, handshakes, toilet seats and whatever else! WHY?

So what to do? Choose from one of our featured debt consolidation programs and check out some of the articles here. Save what you can, get help paying off debt, avoid bankruptcy and even some ideas on how to get a mortgage if you have bad credit. Believe it or not, banks are still arranging mortgages and credit card loans to those with less than spotless credit histories so if you are in need of a "bridging" loan to help pay debt then these might be of use. Most importantly, if you have or find a job - keep it, if you have money - save it, if you have debts - try to pay them off, and if you can still smile then beam it to everyone you see. After all, spreading some happiness never cost a penny.
